Not all of our outside tables have heaters but do have some form of shelter, but we have plenty of blankets and hot water bottles. However do wrap up warm! Credit card guarantee is required for all bookings.

Whether you are looking for a relaxed Sunday lunch, a sociable drink or celebration dinner, you'll find a warm welcome at the River Rat.
Within the understated exterior is a stylish modern bar serving a selection of wines by the glass or bottle, and a wide choice of local gins and fabulous cocktails. Upstairs you'll discover a contemporary bistro style restaurant, whilst on the ground floor is a more casual lounge bar, and the beautiful garden and popular heated ‘huts’ provide a year-round al-fresco dining experience. Join us in our garden for one of our Jazz & Fizz afternoons every Saturday 1-3pm June-August, or one of our popular themed quiz evenings.
Offering modern British and European cuisine, our Sunday lunch menu, and A La Carte dinner menu are beautifully presented and prepared with care by our highly acclaimed head chef, and his team.
We are located at the top of the cobbled High Street. Pay and display parking is available in Hamble Square or the Foreshore car park. Please note our venue has a number of steps into and around the premise.

Our garden huts have a minimum of 4 guests dining. If not dining, a minimum spend is required.
Bookings are time limited to 2 hours, therefore a table may be re-booked after your allotted time. If you would like to extend this please give us a call to discuss your requirements.
All bookings will require a credit/debit card guarantee. In the event of a no show or if the booking is cancelled less than 12 hours before, the card will then be charged £10 per person.
